Pastoral Care at FBC

The purpose of Pastoral Care is to show the love of God to all people by caring for one another practically, prayerfully, and supportively.  This means that everyone within the church is responsible for pastoral care.  Jesus said "By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, that you love one another".

The environment where pastoral care takes place most naturally within FBC is in Connect Groups, where people share their lives together, supporting and encouraging one another in an atmosphere of mutual acceptance and care.  There we can ask for and receive prayer, help each other practically and grow in our faith together. Relationships deepen as openness is fostered.

We have a Practical Pastoral Team - a group of people willing to try to meet some of the practical needs that crop up from time to time.  All requests should be passed to the Pastoral Care Co-ordinator in the first instance.

There are however, times in our lives when events overtake us and things may become overwhelming.  We may need more support than is possible within our Connect Group.  In these times we might want someone to walk more closely with us for a season, to listen, pray, and care for us.  This is where our Pastoral Care Team steps in.
